Alfred Mallia-Milanes appointed chairman of Volksbank Malta

Volksbank Malta Limited has appointed Alfred Mallia-Milanes as chairman during their Annual General Meeting on 29.04.2010.
Mr. Mallia-Milanes, a consultant in Employment, Industrial Relations and Social Affairs, has represented Malta for many years in international fora including the International Labour Conference and the European Commission. He serves as a member on a number of National Boards and advisory committees, including the Malta Broadcasting Authority, and is a director of various companies.
Besides running his own consultancy firm, Mr. Mallia-Milanes regularly participates in debates in the media. In July 2009, he was appointed Chairman of the Human Resources Work Package 6 of the EU Blue Med Project.
"Volksbank Malta has been in a business relationship with Mr. Mallia-Milanes for several years", Managing Director Herbert Skok explained. "Now the shareholders of Volksbank Malta have chosen him as non-executive chairman of the bank, and I am sure we will have a very fruitful cooperation."
Volksbank Malta is registered in Malta as a local commercial bank and licensed by the MFSA, offering both Maltese and foreign customers the full range of banking services. The bank forms part of the Austrian Volksbank group, which has subsidiaries in 11 countries and more than 1,200 branches and outlets in Central and Eastern Europe with almost 9,000 employees.
